This Tuesday, I referee an online debate entitled “Do pro-United Irelanders live in never-never land? Or is Irish Unification inevitable?” organised by Irishborderpoll.com.

Given the protagonists, it shouldn’t be dull. In the “never-never land” corner, step forward Ruth Dudley Edwards, historian, author (including one of the better books on the Orange Order, The Faithful Tribe) and News Letter columnist. In unification territory, Kevin Meagher, one of my finest former students years ago, a friend, a former adviser to a Secretary of State for Northern Ireland and author of the thoughtful book A United Ireland: Why Unification is Inevitable.
