In the last Assembly election five years ago, there was a voter turnout of 64.8% — the highest level since the first Stormont election in 1998.

According to the Electoral Commission, there was a significant increase in the number of people who said then that they voted to ‘get a change’, rising from 7% in May 2016 to 25% in March 2017.
