Editor's Viewpoint: Plans for new church show faith not facing extinction

A crucial dimension of Christianity is declaring the Good News, and there is good news from Newry where there are plans to convert a former electrical store into a Baptist Church.

This in itself provides a novel twist on people seeing the light.

We are sadly well-used to hearing news about churches closing, so it is refreshing to hear about the plans afoot in Newry.

Clearly the Baptists are on the march, and this initiative in the city indicates that religious observance is not necessarily on the wane, much as fashionable "liberal" opinion would claim and wish it otherwise.
