A lesson in humanity for the social media lynch mob
The parents of Oscar Knox were always brave and dignified during his all too short life and recent death, and his dad Stephen has done the right thing by asking social media users to stop abusing a Belfast gym worker who posted an unfortunate tweet in the days following Oscar's death.
The tweet was not abusive. At worst it was misguided, giving the impression that she was trying to drum up business on the back of the tragedy.
She quickly apologised for the misjudgment and does not deserve the abusive comments, including death threats, directed at her online. Social media can quickly become a virtual lynch party with mobs baying their hatred. Stephen showed them how to behave like a proper human being.
