Alliance leader Naomi has overcome her hardest battle
New Alliance Party leader Naomi Long spent several stressful months under death threats from loyalist extremists at the height of the flag protests, unable even to enter the front room of her home. But she faced an even greater enemy, cancer, after she was diagnosed with a malignant melanoma. The disease put the disgraceful loyalist death threats into perspective and added immeasurably to the tremendous strain on Naomi who was then East Belfast MP.
Fortunately the removal of the cancerous mole appears to have been successful and we wish her well in the future. Leading the party will seem like a walk in the park compared to past events.
