An inspirational churchman who truly lived life to the full

Editor's Viewpoint

The death of Canon Edgar Turner, the former Rector of St George's Parish in Belfast, brings to an end one of the most distinctive ministries in the Church of Ireland.

He was well-known throughout the Church at large for his dedicated service on many levels, and for his long and fruitful stewardship of St George's during great challenges.

He was also a dedicated travelling fan of the Northern Ireland football team, and at 96 he had already booked to attend this summer's Euros in France.

Edgar Turner inspired us all, and he also showed us how to live life to the full.
