Antiques Roadshow proof that old really can be gold
There is something addictive about antiques programmes. It is partly the story of the objects being examined, but also the prospect that an unconsidered trifle may indeed be worth a small - or even large - fortune.
So, little wonder then large crowds attended the Antiques Roadshow here yesterday.
In a country where some people's minds have not moved forward much in centuries, it is hardly surprising there is a fascination with history.
And there is no better expression of history than the artefacts of long ago. Some may have relatively little monetary value, but it is not always possible to put a price on a treasured family heirloom.
