Flowers and a child’s toy left near the scene of the crash

Sometimes words are inadequate to describe the depth of sorrow and shock surrounding a tragedy such as the one which claimed the lives of Clare Smyth and her three-year-old daughter Bethany and left another daughter, Hannah, aged five, critically ill in hospital.

They were on a quad bike which was just leaving the family farm when it was in collision with a tractor. Coping with the deaths and hoping for the recovery of the other little girl has placed the Smyth family in an unimaginable situation. Yes, relatives, neighbours and friends will rally round, but with the best will in the world cannot begin to plumb the depths of sorrow of that family.
