Banker right to demand our politicians be more honest
Angela McGowan, the Danske Bank's chief economist, is to be congratulated for her frankness when she says that Northern Ireland's politicians should be more honest about the impact of budget cuts on public services. She reminds us that some Stormont departments will need to make savings of up to 11%.
There is no point in criticising Ms McGowan for being a banker.
We need people like her to put their heads over the parapet and tell us what is really happening.
The alternative is to have to listen yet again to our politicians and self-serving agendas.
