Belfast city centre is slowly rediscovering its optimism
the good news today is that a new walkway is opening to connect Royal Avenue to Donegall Place, and a number of shops in the area will re-open.
The fire which destroyed the Bank Buildings in Belfast has cast a cloud over the business and social life of the city centre over the last few months.
However, there is more encouraging news of large crowds attending the Christmas market at City Hall.
Belfast is a city of resilient people, and after the recent turmoil it is encouraging to see the light that is emerging, literally and symbolically, from the darkness. Christmas is a time for hope. It is badly needed in the heart of our city.
