Belfast still proudly flying flag for tourism 90 years on

Editor's Viewpoint

The extracts from the 1928 Belfast Tourist Guide, which we publish today, have the familiar upbeat ring of a city working hard to sell itself to the world.

Unfortunately, the guide was published just before the financial crashes in New York and London the next year, but full marks were due to those people selling Belfast in difficult times.

History, of course, frequently repeats itself, and in recent years the tourist authorities have been selling the many attractions of our post-Troubles Belfast, and with great success.

The more things change, the more they remain the same, in the need to project our thriving tourist city.
