Best think again

Even the greatest icons, it seems, have a sell-by date and one east Belfast community group blew the final whistle on George Best's mural on a local gable wall.

But giving the painting of the footballing genius and the area's most famous son the red card - replacing it with a mural of a tree - has not gone down well with the fans. They say the painting was a tourist attraction as well as a homage to George.

The community group may have been well intentioned, but they have now learned that tampering with a legend has its perils.
