Built heritage is something all of us in NI should cherish
There is a certain irony that so many people here enjoyed the splendid European Heritage Open Days over the weekend, yet the future of Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK within the European Union remains a matter of bitter controversy.
Northern Ireland has many wonderful and fascinating buildings which bear testimony to the rich history of the province and its people.
Much hard work is done by those who help to plan these Open Days and who act as guides on the day.
These buildings are part of our shared history and should we ignore them, we do so at our peril. They have a story to tell which we should heed.
