Business champ

Doubt is often expressed if there is a sufficient spirit of entrepreneurship in Northern Ireland to help create a vibrant private sector, thus rebalancing the economy. We only have to look at the successes of the province's Top 1 companies published with this newspaper today and the award of a prestigious business prize to Garvagh woman, Michelle McDowell, to show there is lots of local talent. Michelle, a civil engineer, has helped redesign iconic venues such as Wimbledon tennis club and the Royal Albert Hall, showing that she can more than hold her own in a male-dominated profession. We need to give similarly talented women - and men - the chance and encouragement to engage in such ventures here.
