Charles' display of cultural harmony was a deft touch

Editor's Viewpoint

Prince Charles' decision to commission a musical work in English, Irish and Ulster-Scots, which was performed at Hillsborough Castle last night, shows his awareness of how our cultures in the province are intertwined, a message our politicians could heed. During the first day of his visit with the Duchess of Cornwall, he toured the arts centre created in memory of Seamus Heaney, a poet he greatly admired, and the new cancer centre in Londonderry.

While royal visits may not now command the same level of publicity as in former days, the couple are welcome visitors to the province and help set a positive tone on relationships across these islands.
