Christmas presence

Editors Viewpoint

The way people have rallied around a family who lost all their possessions, including Christmas gifts, when their Belfast home was gutted by fire, demonstrates the true nature of the festive season.

Neighbours collected money and gifts for Eileen Wilson and her six children and this newspaper teamed up with toy retailer, Smyths, to replace some of their lost presents.

That helped to save Christmas for the children, but the greatest gift of all was that none of the family was in the house when the fire began. Thankfully none of them was injured and while it will take them some time to get their lives back to normal, at least they are still able to enjoy some of the festive season.
