Co Down couple's compact and bijou home of the future

Editor's Viewpoint

Most people aim at extending their home, but Co Down couple Michael Rauch and his girlfriend Alex Connolly are going to the other extreme by building what must be one of the smallest homes in the province. It is just 160 sq ft and can even fit on the back of a flatbed lorry.

It is part of a global tiny homes eco movement and a movement away from the consumer-driven mindset.

It certainly has got people talking, and even sceptics can see some merit in what the couple are doing.

One benefit is that moving home will be easy in the future - just load on the lorry and drive to the new site.
