Cross-border police work must not be Brexit casualty
The former PSNI Deputy Chief Constable Judith Gillespie has warned that the vital cross-border sharing of police expertise could become endangered in a post-Brexit situation.
She claims Brexit will cause many challenges in sharing information and in the cross-border movement of staff. A 'hard' border, she believes, would have very significant costs, for those on both sides. The outcome of Brexit is far from certain, but these are serious concerns from a respected source. Any new arrangements post-Brexit must not put in danger the fruitful co-operation that already exists between the PSNI and their Garda colleagues.
