DeLorean story was stuff of which movies are made
The new film about the incredible life of John DeLorean virtually wrote itself. The motor car manufacturing mogul who dreamed of creating and building the car of the future in Northern Ireland, was like a character out of US glamour soap Dynasty, with the business morals of Dallas's J R Ewing.
Add in a beautiful wife, the collapse of the Northern Ireland enterprise and DeLorean's arrest for cocaine possession and the story is film ready. The establishment of a car manufacturing plant in Northern Ireland during the height of the Troubles seemed like a dream come true for a province reeling from violence and bad publicity. Instead, it became another nightmare.
