Deputy Lord Mayor refusing to let MS dominate his life
While we often despair of politics in Northern Ireland we should not forget that politicians face the same problems as all of us. Peter McReynolds, Belfast's Deputy Lord Mayor, has spoken candidly about his shock and fears when diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Along with traditional medicine he has used two other therapies to lead as normal a life as possible.
One is positivity, casting aside his previous concerns about how the condition may progress and living life as stress-free as possible. The other is love. He will marry his sweetheart Eileen Donaghey next Friday. Many will join in wishing them every happiness.
