Dignity of officer's widow in stark contrast to dissident thugs
Seven years on from the murder of her police officer husband, the agony of widow Kate Carroll continues every day. The activities of dissident republicans like those who shot her beloved Stephen is a constant reminder to her of the horror of that night in 2009 when he was gunned down.
Her dignity and measured words amidst her grief are in stark contrast to the murderous intent of the terrorists who tried to kill a prison officer in east Belfast last week. Their actions are for naught as they have minimal support and even less vision of any acceptable future. Instead, they simply make decent people despair at their inhumanity.
