Editor's Viewpoint: A cold comfort

There is nothing funny about prolonged bad weather or the inconvenience of snowdrifts, icy pavements and a multitude of transport difficulties. However, there is some humour associated even with a long chill, and a number of our readers have sent in jokes about the icy conditions.

No doubt there are many other wisecracks about the weather, all of which may not be for publication. Nevertheless, in our winter of discontent, we should not lose our sense of humour, and no matter how bad the weather, we should all try to have the last laugh.
