Editor's Viewpoint: Ashes to ashes

Forget that victory over the West Indies at Sion Mills all those years ago or beating Pakistan in the last World Cup, yesterday's astonishing triumph by the Irish cricketers over England sets the benchmark for all-time sporting upsets. Quite simply the current holders of the Ashes were humbled by little Ireland.

And it was no fluke - the fastest century in World Cup history and the highest successful run chase, all after losing a wicket to the very first ball faced in the innings.

Even in a land of tall tales, this is one story which is still barely believable.
