Editor's Viewpoint: Bravery saluted

It is welcome news that the woman police officer injured when a large concrete block was dropped on her head during rioting in Ardoyne is now out of hospital.

Obviously she will be off work for some time, but everyone will wish her a speedy return to full health after a cowardly and vicious attack.

Good wishes go also to a male colleague who was shot and wounded during the disturbances in Belfast, and who still remains in hospital. These brave officers were simply holding the line against mob rule, so that all of us could enjoy a safer and better life. We owe them a lot.
