Editor's Viewpoint: Bring Kitty home
Catherine Staples may have been responsible, at least in part, for the demise of one of Northern Ireland's great houses, Lissan House in Tyrone, but its current day trustees are willing to welcome her back, at least in spirit.
For they are trying to raise the money to buy an iconic portrait of the woman who once danced to an orchestra in the family home.
It is a tale worthy of Downton Abbey, with a gilded family falling on hard times and having to sell off the family silver and other artefacts in an attempt to make ends meet. Surely the province can raise the relatively modest sum required to bring back Catherine to the home she once graced and recall the days of the Big House.
