Editor's Viewpoint: Clean up your act
It seems that humans are not the only species to suffer from cowboy builders.
For breeding birds at one of our most scenic wildlife areas are literally using rubbish to build their nests. And for some of them that is a lethal choice. Some fledglings are killed in their nests by plastic rope and fishing line woven into the structures.
It is little wonder the birds snap up litter for building their nests; it covers the shoreline in abundance. Recently volunteers removed 1,000 bags of litter from the area but still the day-trippers and fly-tippers keep on dumping. It is time for them to clean up their act instead of leaving it to others.
