Editor's Viewpoint: Co Antrim couple's displays of flowers have struck gold
Does any flower adorn summer better than the aptly-named sunflower, particularly when there are over two acres of these tall dark yellow and golden blooms to gaze upon? Damien and Karen McAllister have created a marvelous spectacle near their home in Portglenone, and their latest wonder is a dazzling meadow of wildflowers which attracts many beautiful butterflies. The spectacles are attracting visitors from far and wide, including wedding parties seeking background for photographs.
The modest entrance money is for good causes, including Macmillan Cancer Support. In a summer when sunshine can be scarce at times, the sunflowers and wildflowers will leave a golden glow for everyone right into the autumn and beyond.
