Editor's Viewpoint: DeLorean's star rises
Without doubt, the DeLorean motor car, manufactured in Belfast, was one of the iconic symbols of the 20th century.
Its distinctive gull-wing doors and stainless steel bodywork marked it out from the competition and, even if the project ended in acrimony and shades of swindle, it is still a desirable vehicle.
Now it is being relaunched in Houston, Texas, with improved build quality and a source of spares from the original production line at Dunmurry. US chat show host, Jay Leno, who is also an influential motoring analyst, has given the project the thumbs up. The car which was the real star of the Back to the Future movies could finally be set for lift-off.
