Editor's Viewpoint: Divers' true heroism as Thai cave rescue efforts continue

Editor's Viewpoint

It is a real-life story that reads like a movie script. A group of young footballers trapped deep underground by raging flood waters being found alive after 10 days, but who may have to learn to dive to escape from the cave.

The real-life heroes of the tale are the divers - including some from the UK - who risked their own lives in the treacherous cave system to search for the missing boys and their football coach. What courage and humanity they showed as hope ebbed away that the boys were still alive.

Thankfully, everyone's worst fears were unfounded. The boys are not yet safe as more torrential rain is forecast, but hopefully they will soon be reunited with their families.
