Editor's Viewpoint: Fashion critic feels wrath of 'smoking' star of Derry Girls
The fashion critic who criticised the dress worn by Derry Girls actress Nicola Coughlan at the Bafta TV awards as not the most flattering picked the wrong target. Far from being hurt or embarrassed, Nicola responded just as her character from the hit series would have: "I look smoking, sorry 'bout it."
Her feisty response was worthy of some award - sadly Derry Girls didn't win its category - but Nicola's reward was even greater with a large number of women rallying behind her and commenting favourably on how she looked. And no doubt many more broke into a smile at her put-down of her critic, who has learned not to get a Derry girl's dander up.
