Editor's Viewpoint: Fitzpatrick family's strength after tragedies admirable
It is often said that no parent should ever have to bury their child.
Sadly, Bill and Rosemary Fitzpatrick from Dungannon had to bury two sons, one who died in a work accident and another who was murdered in a homophobic attack.
But as their other son Terry reveals in this newspaper today, the family has shown astonishing fortitude in the face of such tragedies.
He says he tries to cope on a daily basis even if there are dark days. What is important is the support of his parents, siblings and wife.
He displays an amazingly pragmatic outlook, maintaining positivity because, as he sadly knows, we are all here for just a relatively short time.
