Editor's Viewpoint: Get Festival fever
The Belfast Festival at Queen’s has been a long-standing standard bearer for the arts here — tomorrow sees the 50th Festival — and as ever it produces a widely diverse programme of events.
Over the years it has been accused of being too high brow or of being too mainstream, but its continued existence is perhaps the best answer to any critics.
Over the 17 days of the Festival why not experiment and go to some event way beyond your comfort zone? There are certainly plenty to choose from and that alone is the hallmark of a good festival, providing an eclectic mix. Surely that is the legacy one of the Festival founders, Michael Emerson, would be most proud of.
