Editor's Viewpoint: Golden boy Rhys showing he is well on way to greatness

Editor's Viewpoint

Full marks to teenage Newtownards gymnast Rhys McClenaghan who has won gold on the pommel horse at the European championships.

Rhys has already had a remarkable year, winning a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games and also top spot at the artistic gymnastics World Cup.

He and his team has achieved all this despite his coach being made redundant, forcing Rhys to train in his mother's back garden before relocating to Dublin.

Rhys is still only 19 and he has promised "there is still so much more to come".

Given his record so far, why would you even doubt him?

We eagerly await his further inspiring victories.
