Editor's Viewpoint: Greggs' growth in Northern Ireland can act as lesson to other retailers
Bakery chain Greggs is living up to its reputation for fast food by planning the opening of its 14th outlet here in just three years.
At a time when it is making less dough than it hoped - profits are likely to flatline this year - this latest outlet is a sign of faith in the local market and a welcome boost to a Portadown shopping mall that has seen some hard times recently.
Greggs is a brand which does what it does to a high uniform standard and its pies and other baked savouries obviously go down a treat with those who want food in a hurry. Other retailers should heed the lesson that success comes from satisfying the taste of the customer.
