Editor's Viewpoint: Heritage Lottery funding will help us celebrate what is a rich, shared heritage

The Heritage Lottery Fund and its local partners have shown imagination in choosing several projects to share in the latest round of £500,000 funding.

They include a project for Derry's Walls in an initiative entitled Walls Alive 400. This will allow visitors to experience the city's rich history through their smartphones and electronic tablets.

Other projects include help for the Linen Hall Library and local councils. Such grants to mark the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018 are welcome in focusing our minds on innovative ways to share our heritage, instead of some of the more controversial attitudes to "our culture".
