Editor's Viewpoint: Investment is a new lease of life for Queen's Arcade
The £2m being invested by jewellers Lunn's in the retro restoration of Queen's Arcade is a remarkable leap of faith given the current travails of retailers in Belfast city centre. It demonstrates the resilience that the city's business community showed in spades during the Troubles and is a sign of the old adage of spending in hard times to reap the rewards in good times.
The Arcade is the last example of the ornate Victorian arcades which once graced the city centre and the restoration plan is to remove some of the more modern shop fronts and reveal the past glories of this architectural gem. Lunn's deserve great credit for this ambitious project.
