Editor's Viewpoint: Jennifer's creation is giving healthcare a helping hand
The novel creation of a parish nurse in Limavady brings back to mind the district nurse of days gone by. Jennifer Gault who works with Limavady Methodist Church provides support, advice, healthcare and a listening ear to local people who want the service. And often it is nothing to do with medicine which proves the best healer. Rather it is just listening to people who often feel isolated and alone.
At a time when the NHS is struggling, church organisations and others could provide a signal service to their communities by helping train their own parish nurses to recognised standards and create an invaluable helping healthcare hand.
