Editor's Viewpoint: Kind-hearted Jesse-Jane and Mark sure to do us all proud
There is no doubt that Mark McMullan and Jesse-Jane McParland have talent, as a singer and martial artist respectively. But it is the reasons why they want to showcase their abilities that is most touching about the duo from Northern Ireland.
For Mark, music is the way he can still connect with his older brother Declan who has locked-in syndrome. For Jesse-Jane, it is a tribute to her wheelchair-bound father Gary who broke his back in a fall.
Both had initially lost some of their enthusiasm after the tragedies struck their families, but they were later inspired to bring joy to their homes. Now both are going for glory in their respective talent shows.
