Editor's Viewpoint: Let’s clean up
Most of us know of a litter eyesore in our neighbourhoods. It is easy to complain about such grot spots and argue that the local authorities should tackle them.
But we can also play our part by taking part in next month's Big Spring Clean, an initiative by this newspaper and the Tidy Northern Ireland organisation.
Getting rid of litter costs local authorities — and us, the ratepayers — £30m a year. We can help to reduce that bill and improve the landscape with relatively little effort. Surely that is worth doing?
