Editor's Viewpoint: Music to celebrate
While the economy may be stagnating, the same cannot be said of Northern Ireland's cultural scene. Next month sees another addition to the collection of festivals which the province hosts magnificently when Belfast Music Week kicks off.
The breadth and scope of the performances, from chamber music to hip hop, sums up the province's love affair with music.
Belfast punches well above its weight in musical talent and the benefit of festivals like this is that it showcases mainly young, emerging talent. A plan to bring in leading industry figures to see the acts gives them a rare chance to make an elusive breakthrough. But most of all it gives everyone another chance to party and that is never a bad thing.
