Editor's Viewpoint: Musical high note

The Ulster Orchestra is an often under- estimated local success story. It attracts high- class musicians, but also has found new and innovative ways to appeal to a wider audience than just those who love classical music.

Collaborations with people like Paul Brady, Marianne Faithful and the Chieftains brought the orchestra many plaudits as well as much-needed funds. Now in its 45th year, the orchestra's reputation goes far beyond these shores and its musical excellence makes it a notable ambassador for the province.

It is an organisation of which we should all be proud.
