Editor's Viewpoint: Niall's good start
At 26 years of age, Belfast's new Lord Mayor Niall O'Donnghaile is a political novice and there is much interest in how he will perform in what is - at least symbolically - an important position.
Can he adequately reflect the new political atmosphere in Northern Ireland or, indeed, enhance it?
First impressions are important and his historic visit to the Shankill Road - the first ever by a republican First Citizen - was an encouraging initial step. That he was warmly welcomed is another indication of the sea-change in politics here. The verdict must be that the boy has done good and it is to be hoped that he remains as sure-footed during the rest of his tenure of office.
