Editor's Viewpoint: On a high note
Ask a foreign audience what Northern Ireland is famous for and music would not be one of the first things to come to mind.
But pop idols like Snow Patrol or Two Door Cinema Club, never mind established giants of the industry like Van Morrison, are changing our image. Even the prestigious New York Times lauds our vibrant music scene. At a time when young people have |little to look forward to — high university fees, one in five unemployed, bleak prospects — there is still hope for those who can pick up an instrument or hit the right note vocally. Not only are they |fulfilling their own dreams, they are lifting the spirits of the peers in the audience.
