Editor's Viewpoint: Our heartfelt stories show that time is a great healer
Only those who have been through it can fully understand the grief and pain which follows the death of a spouse or partner. Two people who have had that experience today open up about their feelings and how they wondered if they would ever find another companion, someone with whom they could share life and fill the void of loneliness that bereavement had left.
For both it was a number of years before they could fully contemplate a new friendship. Their stories will find an echo in many homes. While we can empathise with their loss, very often we forget about the years that follow when they feel alone and try to rebuild what the rest of us take for granted.
