Editor's Viewpoint: Out with the old

Following Northern Ireland's disastrous Euro 2012 qualifying campaign, the pressure is growing on manager Nigel Worthington to go.

He will, of course, have his own defence but is this not the time to be really bold and appoint a young manager, such as Michael O'Neill who has guided Shamrock Rovers from the Republic into the group stages of the Europa League?

Some may argue that he is too young and too inexperienced, but, sadly, he would not have to do a lot to improve Northern Ireland's international standing. Even in the province there is no reason to follow the traditional route by appointing a manager who has been around for a long time.
