Editor's Viewpoint: Professor's contribution should be example to us all
People can sometimes pinpoint childhood events which had an important bearing on their later lives. Such a person is Professor Jon Tonge, who has co-written seminal books on the DUP and the UUP. In an interview today he reveals he grew up in a Catholic family with Irish roots in England and was fascinated to see an Orange parade and wanted to find out more.
He has made a valuable contribution to the debate on the social, cultural and political situation in Northern Ireland.
Perhaps we can take heart from his example and wish that more people here would be like him and become more inquisitive and understanding about "the other side".
