Editor's Viewpoint: Quest for glory

The Ulster rugby team have done extremely well to reach the quarter-finals of the Heineken Cup, for the first time since 1999. The comfortable victory over Aironi on Saturday should not overshadow the achievement of reaching the last eight.

Ulster have been drawn away against formidable opponents, and the much-fancied Northampton side may prove very difficult to overcome. However the beauty of sport is its uncertainty, and firm favourites have been humbled by even the most unlikely underdogs.

Ulster should not, and will not, allow themselves to be intimidated by reputations, and they will face Northampton on level terms. Whatever happens, they can be certain of enormous support from Northern Ireland in their quest for further glory.
