Editor's Viewpoint: Royal baby brings joy and perhaps a touch of sadness
A new baby should be a reason for joy and thanksgiving, and this applies to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and royal family as much as it does to every family in the land.
The joy of the birth was well-expressed by Harry through the media, and that joy no doubt is shared by his wife Meghan in starting their new family.
Perhaps there is also a sense of longing for what might have been, and the absence of Harry's mother Diana, who would have become a grandmother again this week, brings a degree of sadness to those who miss her most.
The young royal couple have everything to live for, and the new baby boy may help them to build bridges far from their English base, and perhaps with Meghan's difficult father.
This is a time for a new start all round.
