Editor's Viewpoint: Royal wedding invites great reward for our local heroes
Prince Harry is obviously a man who likes to do things differently.
The decision to pack his wedding guest list with local heroes rather than high-profile politicians or diplomats shows that he and bride-to-be Meghan Markle have a common touch more in line with their European counterparts than traditional British royalty.
It is right that people like Londonderry mother and daughter Catherine Cooke and Julie-Anne Coll should be recognised for their sterling community work, and that former Ballymena soldier Phillip Gillespie, who lost a leg while serv ing in Afghanistan, should have his courageous service to his country acknowledged.
