Editor's Viewpoint: School sees double

A little Londonderry primary school is defying the law of averages by having five sets of twins among its 88 pupils.

And one of the four teachers is also a twin. In the population at large only one birth in 82 produces a set of twins on average, so little wonder this sudden surge in twins is causing much comment in the Culmore area. And with three of the sets of twins being identical, it can cause a problem for the teachers remembering just who is who. For the youngsters there is one bonus in being a twin - when they started school they were guaranteed to know at least one of their classmates.
